First House: Two Centuries with Virginia's First Families was written by Virginia historian Mary Miley Theobald and chronicles the mansion's important role as residence, office, and social setting for the past fifty-four Virginia governors. The book, which was designed by Carol Roper Hoffler of Literati, includes a welcome from Governor and Mrs. Robert F. McDonnell and an introduction written by internationally renowned novelist, David Baldacci.
